But I gotta say, the best part of my day is when I get thrown off the roof. Because when the Nicelanders lift me up, I get a perfect view of “Sugar Rush”, and I can see Vanellope racing. The kid’s a natural. And the players love her, glitch and all, just like I knew they would. Turns out I don’t need a medal to tell me I’m a good guy. Because if that little kid likes me… How bad can I be?
loved this movie so much
Parenting, you’re doing it right.
I can only hope to be this type of parent.
These parents make my heart melt
That last one really got me. That’s such a good idea, and bless his dad for wanting his son to not feel left out. All his friends were probably like “Look at all my candy” and Fletcher was like “LOOK AT ALL MY TOYS HAHA I GOT TOYS”
the last one really got me
nani was NINETEEN and such a fucking badass who was so protective of lilo and just ROLLED with aliens being a thing towards the end of the movie. #1 Disney relative of all time.
I have honestly been waiting AGES for the right gifset to express the wonderful perfection that is Nani. She is not only protective of Lilo, she respects the way Lilo’s imagination and quirkiness works.
Pudge the fish got a peanut butter sandwich every Thursday. Nani does not argue the logic of feeding him, only suggests an alternative sandwich when they are out of peanut butter. Lilo was allowed to take as many photos of whatever mundane or odd subjects as she wanted and Nani would get them developed. Nani recognized what were important habits for Lilo.
When Lilo asks for a pet lobster, Nani does not tell her that lobsters are not pets. She tells her, “We don’t have a lobster door, we have a dog door.” She makes sure the woman at the pound does not tell Lilo that “Stitch is not a real name”.
NANI SPENDS THE ENTIRE MOVIE MAKING SURE THAT LILO NEVER FEELS LIKE HER IDEAS ARE WRONG.
The only time we truly see Nani get angry with Lilo is when she is scared of Lilo being taken away. Nani spends the entire movie stressed out over taking care of her sister, trying to find a job, trying to make sure her sister has a friend, and yet she is always willing to put that extra effort, over and over again, to make sure that Lilo always believes that anything is possible.
This is too important for me not to mention.
The book states: "Give 10 licks at a time, more if the child resists. Be careful about using it in front of others — even at church; nosy neighbors might call social workers."
This is literally a how-to manual on how to abuse and beat your children.
OH MY GOD. Okay stop scrolling and look at me. My mother actually used this book. I am a victim of this piece of literary evil, and let me tell you, it has left me with some seriously deep scars. It got to the point that my brother and I couldn’t even laugh. Laughter was considered “foolishness” and we would literally be struck ten times for it if she heard it. Let me reiterate that.
We could not enjoy ourselves or even be happy without being beaten.
One of the “Christian” cult families introduced this to her and yes, it is basically condoning serious child abuse. I actually personally believe in corporal punishment and let me tell you, THIS IS NOT CORPORAL PUNISHMENT. It is heavy abuse and it’s evil, evil, evil. I’m going to go sign that petition, and so help me, if you know of someone using this book, call Child Protective services immediately. The children of that cult family are now actually being rehabilitated because they grew up like robots. It’s a sick fucking book, okay? Sick. Let’s get this thing banned before it ruins anymore lives.
I am the way I am today because of this hideous thing. I cry every time someone even gently reprimands me. I’m afraid of cutting up in public because I think someone is going to hit me. Worst of all: It taught me to tolerate abuse, that I deserved abuse, and that if someone abused me, I was clearly in the wrong. I can’t possibly begin to tell you how dangerous it has been for me. Thanks to people around me who were raised right, I am only now starting to learn to stand up for myself and that, no, I am not an idiot who deserves verbal, physical, emotional, or mental abuse. I am not just a child who will forever be subject to her power-hungry mother.
Most of all… Children are not animals. And really, who the fuck even treats an animal like that??? Please, if you reblog one thing from me, please let it be this. I don’t want anyone else to go through what I did.
What even is this? Signed signed signed!
I am not sure why this has not been slapped down for being illegal. It is shockingly bad, I have been reading the stories linked to it.
I saw this and I got sick to my stomach. How can ANY book claim to uphold Biblical principals and promote the beating and abuse of children?!
What the Bible DOES say about parenting:
"So, in everything, do unto others as you have them do unto you. This sums up the Law and the prophets." Matt 7:12
"Fathers do not exasperate your children. Instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord." Ephesians 6:12
"Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged." Colossians 3:21
"But we are gentle among you, like mother caring for her little children." 1 Thessalonians 2:7
"Be completely humble and gentle, be patient, bearing with one another in love." Ephesians 4:12
"Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently…" Galatians 6:1a
Jesus himself asked: “What do you prefer? Should I come to you with a whip, or in love and with a gentle spirit?” 1Cor 4:21
Disciple is to TEACH. To train by instruction and practice. How is hitting your child practicing or teaching desirable behaviors?
Lastly, the ‘rod’ in the old testament verses, is not in reference to a beating switch. The rod, or “shebet” is a walking stick, used by the head of family. It was used by shepherds to guide their sheep along. The verse that people use to justify hitting their children is “Do not withhold discipline from a child, if you punish him with the rod, he will not die. Punish him with the rod and save his soul from death.” Proverbs 23:12
How much sadness we would avoid if people understood what they were reading! Loosely summarized, this verse means that the parents should not spare teaching and disciplining their children, that sometimes its hard and annoying, but they will be fine. The rod symbolizes their authority as parents, not a beating stick!
As a mom, and a Christian, it makes my stomach churn to see parents justify abusing their children with the Bible. Stop, and actually read and research what it says. If you hold no credit to the Bible, then luckily for you, there are thousands and thousands of child development experts that have concluded that any physical harm to a child is permanently damaging.
